The local studies team in Swansea Central Library regularly help people with intriguing enquiries - from helping someone discover details of a wrecked French ship in 1917 which was salvaged by the customer’s father, to aiding American visitors trying to trace their family connections to the crews of Swansea’s pilot boats.
The Cambrian Index on the libraries website references the oldest newspaper in Wales - starting from 1804 the index has over 400,000 entries up to 1880 and beyond and can be used to trace individuals, historical events, shipwrecks and executions!
