Barry College students can borrow up to 6 items at a time. You can borrow books for either 1 or 2 weeks (the books are marked to tell how long you can have them). DVDs & videos are available for 1 week.

  • If the resource you want isn't on the shelves you can reserve it and it'll be kept for you when it is returned.
  • We charge fines for overdue items at a rate of 5p per item, per day.
  • If you wish to keep items longer, you can renew them as long as they haven't been reserved for someone else. Items can be renewed twice before they need to be returned. You can renew items by coming into the LRC or over the phone (01446 7250550).
  • If you need a something that isn't in the library, we will try to get it to you within 10 working days. As long as it's available.

Services and Facilities

The LRC includes some great facilities which can be used day or evening. From reference books and resources, to quiet study areas and computers ? if you haven?t got these at home.

Resources include reference books, magazines, newspapers, past examination papers, CDs, DVDs, local entertainment information, press cuttings and careers information.

There are over 40 `open access` computers in the LRC with a range of programmes and high-speed broadband internet access that can be used for your College work. Many of the computers are specially equipped for students with dyslexia. There are also other great resources you can use including digital cameras, photocopiers, colour printers, binders for your coursework and much more.

Many of the LRC?s resources are based on the extensive, award-winning Virtual Campus - `Moodle`. `Moodle` is a source of online resources all Barry College learners can use for their course. This can be accessed both inside and outside the College. Learners just go to www.barry.ac.uk and click on `Learner Area`. For some areas of `Moodle`, learners need to enter a personal log-on to access their course materials.

Many students also simply use the Learning Resource Centre for a bit of peace. The LRC has quiet working areas where you can work during the day or evening. This can be a great resource if your home isn?t that quiet because of your children or brothers and sisters!
