The Central Library has been in the middle of Merthyr Tydfil since 1920. 

It has not remained the library it was even thirty years ago, however - it now has more than 25 public use PCs for you - free to use; a vast range of local history and family history resources; and knowledgeable staff to help you find what you want.

Monday 8.30 Self-service 9.00 am - 6.00 pm (9 hours: 1 outside 9-5)

Tuesday 8.30 Self-service 9.00 am – 7.00 pm (10 hours: 2 outside 9-5)

Wednesday 8.30 Self-service 9.00 am – 6.00 pm (9 hours:1 outside 9-5)

Thursday 8.30 Self-service 9.00 am – 6.00 pm (9 hours: 1 outside 9-5)

Friday  8.30 Self-service 9.00 am – 6.00 pm (9 hours: 1 outside 9-6)

Saturday 8.30 Self-service 9.00 am – 2.00 pm (5.5 hours)

Even when the staff are not there you can use the library - we have two self-issue and return units in the foyer, so you can return your books from 8.30am on any day that we are open, and then issue your own books once you have chosen them.
