The Founders' Library contains over 25,000 book and pamphlets printed between 1470 and 1850, together with eight medieval manuscripts (the earliest dating from the first quarter of the thirteenth century), three Hebrew scrolls and about 100 post-Medieval manuscripts.

Available for use by all students and staff of the University who hold a current Founders' Library Readers Ticket obtainable from the main library or Founders' library.

Its resources are also available to all those outside the University who are engaged in serious study. Bona fide scholars and private researchers wishing to consult the collections should write to the Manager of Special Collections in advance (at least 10 days is suggested).
